On the 31 per mille (31!) gradient of the climb to Enna, the D445 1104 struggles to haul the whole consist of the Treno del Ricordo, as the powerful roar of the engines in passing shows, though this photo cannot convey it. On that stretch the D445s have a maximum rated load, when working singly, of 400 tonnes, and the load of this colourful, characterful train was not far from that limit.
