20 May 2012 was a tragic day for northern Italy. During the night a very powerful earthquake in Emilia-Romagna caused considerable damage and several deaths. Rail traffic remained suspended until late morning, pending the necessary checks on the infrastructure. That day the S45 2585 was engaged in this duty, seen moving towards the Bologna Centrale signal box. We then left for Rome with an ETR 600 from Venezia Santa Lucia, around lunchtime.
